Dr. Amy is a native of Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud Minnesota in 2000 and went on to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004. She and her husband, whom she met in vet school, moved out east after graduation seeking a coastal climate to begin their careers. Dr. Amy has worked in this area since graduation and opened Lakewood Animal Hospital in October of 2011. She enjoys building long-term relationships with her patients and their owners. She treats cats and dogs of all ages and has a special interest in dentistry, feline medicine, and pain management. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
The Olsons have two children, two cats (Bernie and Bean), and a family of fish. In her free time Dr. Olson loves to spend time with her family enjoying the beautiful Virginia outdoors.
Dr. Andy joined Lakewood in the summer of 2013. After earning a bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Dr. Andy attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine and was awarded his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Dr. Andy's professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, oral surgery, soft tissue surgery, and ultrasound. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Andy is married to Dr. Amy, who listed all of their beloved critters above. While he enjoys working with all dogs and cats, he has a special place in his heart for boxers. While not in the office, Dr. Andy enjoys spending time with his family, mountain biking, running, and hiking.
Dr. Ireland joined the Lakewood team in June 2023. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College in 1988. She has been practicing in the Fredericksburg area for over 25 years. She is married with one grown daughter and a grand-cat! In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, cooking, foraging for wild mushrooms, and hiking with her dog Kaya. She works with cats and dogs of all kinds, but has a special interest in geriatrics and internal medicine.
Megan joined the Lakewood team in July 2019. She was cross-trained working at the front desk and on the clinical side and is now serving as our practice manager. She studied International Affairs and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Mary Washington. She enjoys interacting with clients and meeting their furry family members. Megan loves all animals, but has a soft spot for hounds. She lives in Spotsylvania with her two dogs, Amelia and Pearl. She enjoys spending time outdoors and with her family.
Tracy joined Lakewood in April 2023. She started out as a receptionist for an animal clinic in Alaska, was cross-trained, and became a Certified Veterinary Assistant in 2014. She is currently continuing her education to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. In her free time, Tracy enjoys spending time with her family and cuddling with her two loveable pitties, Calvin and Hobbes.
Francesca joined the team in December 2020. She had prior experience working as a veterinary assistant in the veterinary field. She has dachshund and a black cat that absolutely adore each other. She is currently enrolled in school to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician! When she is not at work she is taking care of herpets and her two amazing little boys.
Kelly came to Lakewood Animal Hospital July 2022. Prior to joining us, she was a receptionist at a spay & neuter clinic for 5 years. About 1 year ago, her family consisting of her, her husband, 3 dogs & 2 kitties, moved to Lake Anna. When Kelly is not at work, she enjoys reading, boating and going on walks with her pups.
Kennedy joined the Lakewood team in November 2023. She has lived in Spotsylvania her whole life! Kennedy has worked in the animal field for three years and especially loves our feline companions. She enjoys spending her free time reading and crocheting. She shares her home with her cat Pigeon and her Golden Retriever, Bert.
Erin joined the Lakewood team in May 2024. She has lived in Spotsylvania her whole life! Erin has 23 years of experience in the veterinary field. She enjoys spending her free time at the beach or with her family and friends. She has two spoiled furry boys named Kaisee and Scottie.
Dana joined the Lakewood team in January 2018 and has been the friendly face at the front desk ever since! She is happy meeting all our pet parents and learning more about animal care so she can better assist our clients. Dana lives in Locust Grove with her husband, two children, dog Sadie, and cat Macy. She spends most of her time with her kids, but also enjoys going to concerts when able to.
Sarah returned to Lakewood after a two year Floridian hiatus in June of 2022! She's worked in the veterinary field since 2016 and says her favorite patients are seniors because they're gentle and well mannered; even the cranky ones. Sarah is both a dog mom and a dragon mom. She has one senior dog of her own, Dexter, and a bearded dragon, Edward. Her animals occupy the majority of her time at home.
Taegen came to Lakewood in August of 2024. She grew up in Culpeper, Virginia. She has been in the field for 7 years and has 4 years of experience in shelter medicine! She has two cats (Livi and Roger) and she will be adding a canine furry friend in the very near future! She enjoys fishing, cooking, and hanging at home with her pets!
